Winters Putah Creek Park

The California Resources Agency River Parkway Program has enabled enhancements to Winters Putah Creek Nature Park that are restoring natural form (pool, riffle, run sequence; natural channel width and depth; and natural floodplain elevation) and ecological function (removal of weeds, re-establishing self-sustaining native vegetation, wildlife and native fish) to the channel. The project will undo past damage from gravel mining, improve public access with a network of trails and create salmon spawning habitat sustained by natural gravel recharge from Dry Creek. The projects began in 2009 with removal of a derelict percolation dam foundation and are proceeding with realignment of the channel to begin in 2011.
